CHEMEX

Invented in 1941 by German chemist Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, this manual coffee maker was inspired by laboratory glassware. Its borosilicate glass construction, thick, custom-made BoroShield filter, wooden collar, and leather strap embody the concept of "brewing coffee beautifully and scientifically." In 1958, the Illinois Institute of Technology called it a "masterpiece of modern design," and it is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Corning Museum of Glass.
