GRAVITY CENTREPIECE
A tray with a surface that appears to obey different laws of physics. It is inspired by the science fiction fantasy of bending the space-time continuum. A shiny grid that distorts in response to hidden forces. Interlocking parts allow the grid's angle to be precisely adjusted. A flat grid loses its flatness due to something that is not there. It is a transformation of the mathematical principles of warped space into a functional object, creating a surface that appears to react to an unseen force. The interlocking steel parts are movable, allowing for fine adjustments to the grid's angle, so its shape is never completely fixed. From above, it reflects; from the side, it presents itself as a sculpture.
