The Series 7 chair, introduced in 1955 as the successor to the Ant chair. The seat is constructed from nine thin layers of laminated wood, with beautiful wood-grain veneer on the outside, and carefully combined horizontal and vertical grains to achieve optimal strength. This design resulted in a chair that is both lightweight and strong, a defining characteristic of the Series 7. Its slender silhouette, supported by thin 14mm steel pipes, also earned it the nickname "Butterfly Chair." This version features a lacquer finish, concealing the wood grain.
