Optimist & Pessimist
These wooden objects are "Optimist & Pessimist," designed by Hans Bølling and reissued by ARCHITECT MADE. Is the glass half empty? Or half full? The world has always been full of contrasts and contradictions. Optimist and Pessimist are an example of this duality, expressed through their rich facial expressions. Inspired by two colleagues with opposing personalities, like day and night, yin and yang, Hans Bølling designed these two wooden objects. At the same time, we all possess a bit of both of these opposing personalities. The same things can be perceived positively or negatively, depending on how we interpret them. The existence of "Optimist" and "Pessimist" reminds us of the dichotomy of things and makes us reflect on the important balance of feelings in life. Pessimist looks down with slumped shoulders, while Optimist puffs out its chest and wears a big smile. However, by bending their arms, raising their arms, or tilting their heads, they can express various optimistic and pessimistic sentiments. These wooden objects eloquently tell us that regardless of whether you typically have a Pessimist or Optimist personality, you can change your worldview at any given moment.
