Hippo Hippopotamus

This unique wooden toy, the HIPPO (hippo) designed by Kay Bojesen in 1955, has been reissued as a pen holder by "KAY BOJESEN DENMARK," established in 2011. Originally, it was designed as a toy, or perhaps stationery, to hold a single pencil next to a telephone at the time. Today, however, it is internationally recognized as an adult collectible. In the vintage market, it commanded very high prices as a rare collector's item, making it an unattainable luxury for the average person. But with its re-release, a new one can now be easily acquired. This hippo's only movable part is its mouth. However, its deformation is the most pronounced compared to other toys, and even with only its mouth moving, it possesses exceptional charm and presence as an objet d'art.
