This brass pendant lamp is made by pouring molten metal into a mold made of sand. It is carefully made one by one in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, where the casting industry is thriving. The rough surface is not scraped or polished after being removed from the mold, leaving the sand marks intact, giving it a texture that is characteristic of casting, and allowing you to see the beautiful texture of the brass. The uneven black color is created by coloring it with a paint mixed with lacquer, and then rubbing in black tooth paint with a brush to create the unevenness, resulting in a deep black color.
