Persimmon Chair Fabric/Daisaku Naga
The pinnacle of Japanese modern design, the "Persimmon Chair" was reissued in 2006, originally designed by Daisaku Choh. In 1960, Choh redesigned this innovative chair, first presented at the Milan Triennale, utilizing Japan's first racket structure (komaire processing). At the Milan Triennale, Junzo Sakakura Architect & Associates handled the venue design, and Daisaku Choh, then a member of the institute, was responsible for the furniture design. The organic lines of the backrest were inspired by the curve of a persimmon fruit split vertically in half. It blends well with Japanese living spaces and is an ideal dining chair. It also pairs perfectly with the Mushroom Base Table, another design by Daisaku Choh. The fabric model, made from a wool blend, offers a soft and gentle impression. The warm and pleasant-to-the-touch fabric comes in basic colors selected by Daisaku Choh himself: Dark Gray (NC-128), Brown (NC-123), and Red (NC-107).
