Eames House Whale
Charles & Ray Eames lived in their legendary Eames House, surrounded not only by their own designs but also by a myriad of objects they discovered during their travels, in nature, and in their daily lives, such as folk art collections. Most of the things they collected were driven by their curiosity for design and form. The Eames House, full of their curiosity and enjoyment, was a constantly changing collage that reflected their lives. Among the items in the Eames House, one that particularly caught the eye was a massive wooden whale, a piece of North American folk art that exceeded their height. Charles & Ray Eames were very fond of this wooden whale, decorating their studio within their home with it and even featuring it in photoshoots for lounge chairs they designed.
