TOSHIYUKI TANI
This lighting brand was founded in 1999 by Toshiyuki Tani, who handles everything from design to production himself. His signature series, "Wappa Shade," "Sen," and "Hokore," use traditional Japanese craft techniques (such as Suruga bamboo senjiki work and bento boxes). The brand is based on the philosophy of "playing light," which transforms space into art through the shadows cast by the material itself. His designs, which combine mid-century style with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, have been adopted in residential spaces both in Japan and overseas, as well as in art museums and hotels, and have received high praise.
