Box Chair
This box chair is based on the wooden boxes that Suntory, the first whiskey manufacturer in Japan, used to ship whiskey. The side of the box is printed with the name of Suntory's predecessor, Kotobukiya Ltd., and the logo that is still used on Suntory Whisky Kakubin today. The attached casters are removable, so you can use it as a seat at the entrance or other places by removing the casters. The products of "Taru Monogatari", which reuse barrels that have aged Suntory whiskey for many years and regenerate them into furniture, are carefully made to preserve the curved lines and texture unique to whiskey barrels, and you can enjoy a heavy texture. Whisky barrels are made from carefully selected oak wood. In order to prevent leakage from the barrel during the long aging period, we use white oak straight grain wood with straight grain like high-end furniture materials. When whiskey barrels that have finished their role are dismantled and the surface of the bent and stretched barrel wood is carved, beautiful oak wood is revealed. We recreate furniture using wood that has the strength and beauty unique to straight-grained wood, and which has acquired a unique character through the aging period. Source: https://flymee.jp/
