This chair was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and was introduced at the Weissenhof Exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany in 1927. The chair, which used a cantilever, known as a principle of architectural mechanics, was very innovative at the time. The steel pipes designed to draw a large arc give an elegant and sophisticated impression and provide elasticity to the seat.
