The Seven chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen, is Fritz Hansen's best-selling chair and an iconic chair in the history of furniture. In 1955, three years after the development of the Ant chair, the Seven chair, a further evolved molded plywood chair, was born. The iconic shape of the Seven chair was born when Arne Jacobsen explored the possibilities of steam-molded plywood. It is the culmination of the press molding technology refined by Søren Hansen, the grandson of founder Fritz Hansen, in the 1920s and 1930s. Leather (genuine leather) Fritz Hansen offers a wide range of leathers to ensure that each piece of furniture blends perfectly into any home. Different types of leather have different characteristics, so there are several factors to consider when choosing the right leather. Structure, maintenance, feel, comfort and appearance are all equally important. Different leathers also age differently, some darken and others lighten over time. The only thing that all Fritz Hansen leathers have in common is quality. We only use the finest leathers for our upholstery. Please note that leather is a natural material and there are natural individual variations in colour and surface structure. There may be slight moles or natural blemishes, but these are a characteristic of genuine leather. ◆About the shell The shell is available in natural wood, lacquer (a paint finish that hides the grain) and colored ash (a paint finish that shows the grain of the wood, which varies from chair to chair). ・Natural wood The exterior of the laminated plywood is made of natural wood veneer and finished with clear lacquer. The clear grain of the wood enhances the organic form of the chair. The grain pattern varies from piece to piece. If you prefer a natural look, we recommend natural wood. ・Lacquer The lacquer finish hides the grain of the wood, giving it a uniform, silky soft appearance and allowing the color to stand out. ・Colored ash With colored ash, the grain of the wood can be clearly seen through the color. The difference between the lacquer finish is that the chair is organic and the texture of the material is visible. It has the advantage of being a more durable finish than natural wood.
