Fritz Hansen introduced Arne Jacobsen's Grand Prix chair at the Spring Exhibition held at the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen in 1957. It was originally announced as the "Model 3130", but later that same year it was exhibited at the Milan Triennale and won the Grand Prix, the highest award at the exhibition, after which it was named the "Grand Prix Chair". This product is available in three sizes with steel legs. The shell is a molded plywood made from a combination of nine layers of veneer and Indian cotton. The front padding, which is covered with fabric or leather, can be combined with the shell to create a variety of combinations. Please note that leather is a natural material and therefore there may be natural individual differences in color and surface structure. Small moles and natural blemishes may be present, but these are a characteristic of genuine leather. ◆About the shell The shell is available in natural wood, lacquer (a painted finish that hides the grain) and colored ash (a painted finish that shows the grain of the wood, which varies from chair to chair).・Natural Wood: The exterior of the laminated plywood is finished with a natural wood veneer and clear lacquer. The clear grain enhances the organic form of the chair. The grain pattern varies from piece to piece. If you prefer a natural look, we recommend natural wood. ・Lacquer: The lacquer finish hides the grain, giving a uniform, silky soft impression and allowing the color to stand out. ・Colored Ash: With colored ash, the grain can be clearly seen through the color.
