GRAND PRIX
Fritz Hansen introduced Arne Jacobsen's Grand Prix chair at the Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen in 1957. It was originally named the "Model 3130", but later that same year it was exhibited at the Milan Triennale and won the Grand Prix, the highest award at the exhibition, after which it was named the "Grand Prix Chair". This product has a wood base available in two sizes. The shell is a molded plywood made from a combination of nine layers of veneer and Indian cotton. The front padding, which has fabric or leather on the front, can be combined with the shell in a variety of combinations. Structure, maintenance, feel, comfort and appearance are all equally important. Different leathers also age differently, some darkening over time and others fading. The only thing that all Fritz Hansen leathers have in common is quality. We only use the finest leathers for our upholstery. Please note that leather is a natural material and therefore there may be natural individual variations in color and surface structure. There may be slight moles or natural blemishes, which are a characteristic of genuine leather. ◆About the shell The shell is available in natural wood or colored ash (a painted finish that reveals the grain of the wood, which varies from chair to chair). -Natural Wood: The exterior of the laminated plywood is finished with a natural wood veneer and clear lacquer. The distinct grain of the wood enhances the organic form of the chair. The grain pattern varies from piece to piece. If you prefer a natural look, we recommend natural wood. -Colored Ash: With colored ash, the grain of the wood is clearly visible through the color.
