TABLE SERIES SUPERELLIPSE
The table series consists of the Super Ellipse, Super Circle, Round and Rectangular tables designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen. The best-known Super Ellipse was inspired by Piet Hein's solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm. This ingenious shape is unique to Piet Hein, who was also a mathematician. The formulaic shape has no edges, so the Super Ellipse table has a very open design. Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen contributed to the base design of each table. The Super Ellipse models are available in six sizes. The top is available in laminate or natural wood (walnut). The edges of the top are framed in aluminium for the laminate models and in natural for the wood models. The base is made of spun steel legs, available in chrome or powder-coated finish.
