The Rabbit Chair, with its distinctive backrest that resembles rabbit ears, is made from solid cypress wood. A technique called Uzukuri processing is used so that the texture of the wood can be enjoyed with both the eye and the touch. When the surface of the wood is rubbed and polished, the soft parts of the annual rings are scraped away, bringing out the beautiful grain. The wood is finished with colored oil, allowing the natural grain, knots, and shading to be seen. "We believe that what Hiromatsu Mokko can do is pass on to the next generation. Things, design, technology, sensibility, the environment... We create things with the hope that the children who will carry the future will develop rich sensibilities. With this in mind, we worked with interior designer Watanabe Masaru to develop furniture for children in the true sense of the word, for the children of the future."
