This flower-shaped children's table is made from solid cypress wood. It creates a space for children to sit on the floor and draw or read picture books. A technique called Uzukuri processing is used so that the texture of the wood can be enjoyed with both the eye and the skin. By rubbing and polishing the surface of the wood, the soft parts of the annual rings are scraped off, bringing out the beautiful grain. It is finished with colored oil so that the natural grain, knots and shading can be seen. "We believe that what Hiromatsu Mokko can do is pass on to the next generation. Things, design, technology, sensibility, the environment... We create things with the hope that the children who will carry the future will develop rich sensibilities. With this in mind, we worked with interior designer Watanabe Masaru to develop furniture for children in the true sense of the word, for the children of the future."
