"Yachiyo Kiriko" was born in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture. The heavy mallet-shaped colored glass is skillfully cut with designs that are an arrangement of traditional auspicious objects. The Yagasuri pattern has the meaning of warding off evil. Since an arrow never returns after it is shot, in the Edo period, it was said that if a person wore a Yagasuri kimono at the time of marriage, they would not return to their parents' home, and so the pattern was considered to be auspicious.
