earth clock less
This is a reprint of the earth clock designed by Igarashi Takenobu for OUN in 1987. When he decided to design the clock, he noticed that no spherical clocks had been made. The sphere is connected to the image of the earth, and the ocean that makes up 70% of the earth is expressed by the wavy grooves on the clock body. The remaining 30% is the earth on which we live. The dial is covered by a transparent dome. The body of the earth clock is made using sand casting technology. The intricate wavy surface shape cannot be repaired, so the casting itself must be highly perfect. The subsequent lathe processing requires precise preparation and processing, as the shape is so exquisite that very few areas can be cut. This complex shape is expressed through the experience and skill of a skilled craftsman. Source: https://flymee.jp/
