The "Opal" series features a spherical shade made of milky white polycarbonate with a unique blow molding process. The shade's translucent color allows it to retain a ghostly, insubstantial ephemeral quality during the day, but at night it transforms into a brilliantly bright sphere that illuminates its surroundings. The built-in LED, developed exclusively by Tom Dixon, creates a soft, diffused, beautiful light. The rod that supports the shade is made of strong fiberglass. It is foot-switched.
