J80
Designer Joen Beckmark was the last representative of the fourth generation, and served for nine years, the longest period of his predecessors. During the latter period of FDB Möbler, when Beckmark was in charge, Danish furniture was becoming popular, especially in the United States, and Beckmark worked hard to develop stick-shaped, inexpensive chairs that could be packed small and assembled with an eye toward export. His representative work is the "J108," but he developed both the "J80" and "J81" in a completely different direction from the assembled furniture aimed at export. The biggest difference from previous chairs is that the wood is very thin, and paper cord is used for the seat, which Volta and Johansson had not used since Mogensen adopted it. In addition, the steam-twisted oak back was developed for the "J80" and "J81." By adopting these, the chairs are lighter than before for their size, and have a soft seating feel and comfortable back. By giving them a clear concept of being easy to use and suitable for everyday use, they have been appreciated by a wide range of people and are still popular today. Source: https://flymee.jp/
