Designer Joen Beckmark was the last representative of the fourth generation, and served for nine years, the longest period of his predecessors. In the later years of FDB Möbler, when Beckmark was in charge, Danish furniture was becoming popular, especially in the United States, and Beckmark worked hard to develop stick-shaped, inexpensive chairs that could be packed small and assembled, with an eye toward export. His representative work is the "J108," but he developed both the assembled furniture for export and the series including the "J80" in a completely different direction. The biggest difference from previous chairs is that the seat uses paper cord, which Volta and Johansson had not adopted since Mogensen adopted it. Beckmark, who was very strict about furniture production, placed importance on usability and designed the paper cord on the seat to be comfortable no matter which direction you sit in. The wooden parts are designed to be very thin, and the oak back and armrests, which are formed by twisting with steam, were developed specifically for this series. Lighter than conventional chairs for its size, with comfortable backs and armrests, and a clear concept of ease of use for everyday use, it has been well received by a wide range of people and continues to enjoy popularity today. Among the series, the "J82" is designed to be even more comfortable, with a width of approximately 29 cm wider and a seat height (36 cm) the same as a sofa, so that you can sit in it for hours without getting tired.
