Desk Clocks Tripod Clock
The Desk Clock is one of the interior accessories designed by George Nelson. Unlike the conventional image of a clock, its iconic design stands out as an accent in any space. American designer George Nelson was commissioned to design a clock collection in 1947. When designing, Nelson researched how people use clocks. As a result, he came to the conclusion that people read the time by looking at the position of the hands, not the numbers on the dial, and created a design that did not use numbers, which had been thought to be necessary for clocks until then. At the same time, he realized that most people at that time were using wristwatches, and clocks in interiors had a high decorative role. This idea was reflected in the 14 clocks released in 1949, which were a collection of clocks with a wide variety of designs with unprecedented shapes, colors, and materials. Over the next 35 years, the designers of Nelson Associates designed more than 100 different clocks, including wall clocks, table clocks, and built-in clocks. After George Nelson's death in 1986, the Vitra Design Museum acquired approximately 7,400 documents, including manuscripts, drawings, photographs and slides from 1924 to 1984. Vitra began reproducing Nelson clocks in 1999, and the collection continues to expand. Source: https://flymee.jp/
