F2 CHAIR
The F2 CHAIR was produced by Tubax in Belgium. The designer, Willy Van Der Meeren, is an architect and furniture designer active in the 1950s, also known as the Belgian Jean Prouvé. The chair's structure, which combines plywood and steel, was not particularly unusual even at the time, but it is simple, suitable for mass production, and has attention to detail, typical of a modernist architect. The original back and seat were heavily upholstered, and there are few remaining, making it very rare. COMPLEX has focused on this rare type of wooden seat and reproduced it. The back and seat are molded with a cubic curve by pressing plywood, which makes it comfortable for the back and buttocks, and the back is supported by a flat bar, which maintains its strength while creating flexibility, making it more comfortable to sit on. The method of fixing the backboard and the flat bar that supports it is unique, and it is a beautiful design. The brass parts will lose their shine over time and gain a vintage feel.
