Doo-Wop
This pendant was designed in 1952 in collaboration with the Danish Navy Construction Office. It consists of two parts, an outer main shade and an inner cone, which spreads light in both directions. The outer shade is available in both painted and unpainted metal polished versions, but the inside of the shade is painted white to reflect soft light. The inner surface of the main shade reflects the light coming from the opening of the inner cone, and also shines light on the cone itself. The direct light from the light source directly illuminates the downward direction. This pendant was first introduced in the 1950s in close collaboration between the Danish Navy Construction Office and Louis Poulsen. At the time, it was called the "Navy Pendant" and was used for many years in many places such as dining rooms and offices in various buildings of the Navy, and was widely used due to its characteristic light and functionality. In 2012, it was reborn under the name "Doo Wop" and began to be reproduced in new colors and brass versions, and in 2017, new metal versions in copper and stainless steel were introduced. But the manufacturing process remains the same: the shades are still hand-formed, with elaborately rolled edges, and the brass versions in particular are a real challenge for even the most skilled craftsmen, as the hard material is bent and polished to a high shine.
