PH 3/2 Pendant
The PH 3/2 pendant, reissued in 1998, is a simple, basic version of the three-shade PH lamp, which efficiently reflects the light emitted by the light source and eliminates glare. Glare, light reflection and diffusion, luminaire efficiency, natural shadows of the illuminated object. This functional design is Henningsen's answer to these problems, and fits into any interior style. The three shades, which form a curve called a logarithmic spiral, are combined, and the filament of the bulb is placed at the starting point of the spiral. Poul Henningsen performed repeated optical calculations and tests. The shape of the shade was determined by considering how the light would be reflected and how the light would be created, but above all it was designed to be glare-free. The milky glass shade makes the entire lamp look soft and illuminates the surroundings with glare-free light, which is the light that only the three-shade PH lamp can emit. Each shade is made of three layers of milky white blown glass, with a glossy exterior and a matte interior that receives the light directly from the bulb, which has been sandblasted to give it a matte finish, reflecting and evenly diffusing a soft light that is pleasant to the eye. The logical and functional design, which uses a logarithmic spiral curve for the shade shape and combines three of these shades to cut the dazzling light (glare) of the bulb while efficiently reflecting and delivering light to the place and direction where it is needed, has not lost its value even today and emits beautiful light.
