Nyhavn Wall
This is a masterpiece of functional design, where form creates light and light creates form. The cone-shaped shade shines light directly downwards, and the light reflected by the three glare-cut rings at the top softly illuminates the fixture itself. It was the winner of a design competition hosted by Louis Poulsen in 1976. The solid copper material type develops a patina on the surface when used outdoors, and over time develops a rich texture. Nyhavn Wall was designed by Alfred Homann and Ole V. Kjaer in 1976. Nyhavn Wall was the winner of a design competition hosted by Louis Poulsen, which aimed to create a lighting fixture that would blend in with the streetscape of many old buildings. Alfred Homann, who had experience in drafting and model-making at the time, submitted the work together with his colleague Ole V. Kjaer in just five days. Alfred Homann explains the idea for this wall lamp as follows: "One of the keys was to make the fixture smaller and more discreet than what was on the market at the time." Source: https://flymee.jp/
