Extension Table Classic
This extension table is popular for its flexibility in adapting to changes in your lifestyle. All parts, including the rails, are made of solid wood. Using two auxiliary tops stored inside the main body, it can be used in three different positions: 135 cm wide for two people, 165 cm wide for four people, and 195 cm wide for six people. The tabletop size expands without changing the position of the legs, so chairs fit in well and the design is not compromised. The grain of the tabletop runs vertically instead of horizontally, making the joints of the auxiliary top less noticeable. Two auxiliary tops are included as standard (maximum width 195 cm). By adding one additional auxiliary top as an option, you can expand it to a maximum width of 225 cm. All parts of Kita no Jyutaku Sekkei's furniture are made of solid wood from Hokkaido, and are made by hand by craftsmen in Higashikawa, Hokkaido, using traditional methods. Solid wood is used even in places that cannot be seen, such as the drawer boards, rails, and stopper mechanisms. When making furniture using solid wood, joints and other ingenuity are required to accommodate the expansion and contraction caused by the wood's breathing. We incorporate construction methods that utilize the skills of our craftsmen to prevent twisting and warping while not hindering the expansion and contraction of the wood. Since we assume that the product will be used for a long time, we pursue a functional and beautiful design that is inevitable, while assuming that parts will be replaced or repaired at some point. [About the tree species] - Sugar maple (from Hokkaido) A beautiful tree species with a clean and white wood surface. It takes time to dry and process, but the neat workmanship is exceptionally beautiful. It was once called "village tree," but the supply has decreased year by year and it is becoming rare. The more it is used, the more beautiful it becomes. The wood grain may have dark lines called Kanasuji. - Oak (from Hokkaido) It has a calm yellowish brown color and beautiful grain unique to oak. In the past, a lot of Hokkaido oak was cut and exported overseas because it has a moderate hardness, a rich expression, and is easy to process as a furniture material and finish into stately furniture. A striped pattern called "Torafu" appears on the straight grain. [About the finish] ・Oil finish Apply oil based on natural linseed oil from LEMKE of Germany and let it dry for 4 to 5 days. Repeat this twice and finally polish with beeswax-based wax to finish. There is no paint film on the surface, but the oil that has soaked into the grain protects the wood and changes to a deeper color over time. ・Soap finish Soap finish, which can only be selected for silver maple, is finished using a soapy water solution made from palm. It has a beautiful white matte appearance while leaving the wood grain, and has a more natural finish than oil.
