Glove Chair
This chair is not only comfortable to sit on, but also pursues changes over time that increase in flavor the more it is used. The frame is made of wood from Hokkaido. One of our special features is that the inside of the seat is made of natural latex (natural rubber) and wool felt, rather than the urethane used in general chairs. It has a moderate elasticity and is suitable for long-term use. Stitching will be added to the center only if you choose genuine leather for the upholstery. All parts of Kita no Jyutaku Sekkei's furniture are made of solid wood from Hokkaido, and are made by artisans in Higashikawa, Hokkaido using traditional methods and handiwork from craftsmen. When making furniture using solid wood, joints and ingenuity are required that can accommodate the expansion and contraction caused by the breathing of the wood. We use the skills of craftsmen to incorporate construction methods that prevent twisting and distortion while not interfering with the expansion and contraction of the wood. Since it is assumed that you will use it for a long time, we pursue a functional and beautiful design that is inevitable while assuming that parts will be replaced or repaired at some point. [About the upholstery] - Fabric You can choose from fabrics made from natural materials. Breathable linen. Organic cotton made from cotton that is not treated with chemicals. Wool absorbs moisture easily, but repels water on the surface, keeping it comfortable to the touch. Each material has its own charm. *Some upholstery contains polyamide to improve abrasion resistance. ・Genuine leather We use genuine leather from Tarnsjo, Sweden. It is tanned with vegetable tannins in a small village factory with a 135-year history, without using chemicals, in the same traditional manufacturing method. [About the tree species] ・Acer (from Hokkaido) A beautiful tree species with a clean and white wood surface. It takes time to dry and process, but the neat workmanship is exceptionally beautiful. It was once called "village tree", but the supply has decreased year by year and it is becoming rare. The more you use it, the more beautiful it becomes. The wood grain may have dark lines called Kanasuji. ・Oak (from Hokkaido) It has a calm yellowish brown color and beautiful grain unique to oak. In the past, a lot of Hokkaido oak was cut and exported overseas because it has a moderate hardness, a rich expression, and is easy to process as a furniture material and finish into stately furniture. A striped pattern called "Torafu" appears on the straight grain. [About the finish] ・Oil finish Apply oil based on natural linseed oil from LEMKE of Germany and let it dry for 4 to 5 days. Repeat this twice and finally polish with beeswax-based wax to finish. There is no paint film on the surface, but the oil that has soaked into the grain protects the wood and changes to a deeper color over time. ・Soap finish Soap finish, which can only be selected for silver maple, is finished using a soapy water solution made from palm. It has a beautiful white matte appearance while leaving the wood grain, and has a more natural finish than oil. When you first start using it, the fuzz may be noticeable when you wipe it with water, but it will become more familiar as you use it. Egg tempera paint is environmentally friendly and does not contain organic solvents. The paint is made by mixing dried egg powder (eggs ground into powder) with a mixture of pigments, water and linseed oil. By drying it over time, the moisture is removed, and the coating hardens and becomes stronger.
