Personal Chair
A personal chair that allows you to bring the texture of solid wood into your study or workplace. The combination of solid wood and genuine leather is not only luxurious in appearance and feel, but you can also enjoy the process of how it changes and becomes more tasteful as you use it. Another feature of the chair is that the seat is made of natural palm (palm fiber) and wool felt, rather than the urethane used in general chairs. The seat can be raised or lowered. All parts of Kita no Jyutaku Sekkei's furniture are made of solid wood from Hokkaido, and are made in Higashikawa, Hokkaido using traditional craftsmanship and traditional methods. Solid wood is used even in parts that cannot be seen, such as the drawer boards, rails, and stopper mechanisms. When making furniture using solid wood, joints and ingenuity are required that can accommodate the expansion and contraction caused by the wood's breathing. We use craftsmanship to incorporate construction methods that prevent twisting and distortion while not hindering the expansion and contraction of the wood. Since we assume that the furniture will be used for a long time, we pursue a functional and beautiful design that is inevitable, while assuming that parts will eventually need to be replaced or repaired. [About the upholstery] - Genuine leather We use genuine leather from Tarnsjo, Sweden. It is tanned with vegetable tannins in a small village factory with a history of 135 years, without using chemicals, in the same traditional manufacturing method. [About the tree species] - Sugar maple (from Hokkaido) A beautiful tree species with white wood skin and a clean look. It takes time to dry and process, but the neat workmanship is exceptionally beautiful. It was once called "village tree", but the supply has decreased year by year and it is becoming rare. The more it is used, the more it changes to amber color and becomes more beautiful. The grain may have dark lines called Kanasuji. - Oak (from Hokkaido) It has a calm yellowish brown color and beautiful grain unique to oak. It has a moderate hardness, a rich expression, and is easy to process as furniture material and finishes into stately furniture, so in the past, a lot of Hokkaido oak wood has been cut and exported overseas. A striped pattern called "tiger stripe" appears in the straight grain. [About the finish] ・Oil finish Apply oil based on natural linseed oil from LEMKE, Germany, and let it dry for 4 to 5 days. This is repeated twice, and finally polished with a beeswax-based wax to finish. There is no paint film on the surface, but the oil that has soaked into the grain protects the wood and changes to a deeper color over time. ・Soap finish Soap finish, which can only be selected for maple wood, is finished using a soapy water solution made from palm. It has a beautiful white matte look while leaving the wood grain intact, and has a more natural finish than oil. When you first start using it, the fuzz may be noticeable when you wipe it with water, but it will blend in as you use it. ・Egg tempera paint Egg tempera paint does not contain organic solvents and is environmentally friendly. Dried egg powder (egg powder) and pigment mixed with water and linseed oil are mixed to make the paint. By drying it over time, the moisture is removed, the paint film hardens and becomes stronger. It is a time-consuming process, taking time to dry, but the end result is beautiful furniture with a matte texture and deep colors. Source: https://flymee.jp/
