A rocking chair with a gentle rocking motion. The moderately elastic seat is designed to be comfortable and relaxed, even when sitting for long periods of time. Instead of using urethane, which is used in general chairs, the seat is made of natural materials such as palm (palm fiber), wool felt, and latex (natural rubber). The headrest and back cushion, which come into contact with the head and waist, are made with feathers for a soft feel. You can choose the color and upholstery of the frame. All parts of Kita no Jyutaku Sekkei's furniture are made using solid wood from Hokkaido, and are made in Higashikawa, Hokkaido using traditional craftsmanship and traditional methods. Solid wood is used even in parts that cannot be seen, such as the drawer boards, rails, and stopper mechanisms. When making furniture using solid wood, joints and other ingenuity are required to accommodate the expansion and contraction caused by the breathing of the wood. We use craftsmen's techniques to incorporate construction methods that prevent twisting and distortion while not hindering the expansion and contraction of the wood. Since it is assumed that you will use it for a long time, we pursue a functional and beautiful design while assuming that parts will be replaced or repaired at some point. [About the upholstery] ・Fabric You can choose from fabrics made from natural materials. Breathable linen. Organic cotton made from cotton that is not treated with chemicals. Wool is easy to absorb moisture, but it repels water on the surface, keeping it comfortable to the touch. Each material has its own charm. * Some upholstery contains polyamide to improve abrasion resistance. ・Genuine leather We use genuine leather from Tarnsjo, Sweden. It is tanned with vegetable tannins in a small village factory with a history of 135 years, without using chemicals, in the same traditional manufacturing method. [About the tree species] ・Itaya maple (from Hokkaido) A beautiful tree species with white wood skin and a clean look. It takes time to dry and process, but the neat workmanship is exceptionally beautiful. It was once called "village tree", but the supply is decreasing year by year and it is becoming rare. The more you use it, the more it turns amber and becomes more beautiful. The grain may have dark lines called Kanasuji. Oak (Hokkaido) A calm yellowish brown with beautiful grain unique to oak. It has moderate hardness, a rich expression, and is easy to process as furniture material, and can be finished into stately furniture, so in the past, a lot of Hokkaido oak has been cut and exported overseas. The straight grain has a striped pattern called "Torafu". [About the finish] Oil finish Apply oil based on natural linseed oil from LEMKE, Germany, and let it dry for 4 to 5 days. Repeat this twice, and finally polish it with beeswax-based wax to finish. There is no paint film on the surface, but the oil that has soaked into the grain protects the wood and changes to a deeper color over time. Soap finish Soap finish, which can only be selected for silver maple, is finished using a soap water solution made from palm. It has a beautiful white matte finish while leaving the wood grain intact, and has a more natural finish than oil. When you first start using it, the fuzziness may be noticeable when you wipe it with water, but it will blend in as you use it. - Egg tempera paint Egg tempera paint does not contain organic solvents and is environmentally friendly. The paint is made by mixing a mixture of dried egg powder (powdered eggs) and pigment with water and linseed oil. By drying it over a long period of time, the moisture is removed, and the paint film becomes hard and stronger. It takes time to dry, but it results in beautiful furniture with a matte texture and deep colors. Source: https://flymee.jp/
