A cabinet with a glass door on the top, a wooden door on the bottom, and a drawer in the middle. Both the top and bottom have hinged doors, so you can take things in and out and organize them spaciously. It can be used not only as a cupboard, but also as a storage unit that doubles as a display shelf. All parts of Kita no Jyutaku Sekkei's furniture are made from solid wood from Hokkaido, and are made in Higashikawa, Hokkaido using traditional craftsmanship and traditional methods. Solid wood is used even in parts that cannot be seen, such as the drawer boards, rails, and stopper mechanisms. When making furniture from solid wood, joints and ingenuity are required that can accommodate the expansion and contraction caused by the wood's breathing. We use the skills of our craftsmen to incorporate construction methods that prevent twisting and distortion while not interfering with the expansion and contraction of the wood. Since it is assumed that the product will be used for a long time, we pursue a functional and beautiful design that is inevitable, while assuming that parts will be replaced or repaired at some point. [About the tree species] - Sugar maple (from Hokkaido) A beautiful tree species with a clean white wood surface. It takes time to dry and process, but the neat finish is exceptionally beautiful. It was once called "village wood", but the supply is decreasing year by year and it is becoming rare. The more you use it, the more it turns amber and becomes more beautiful. The grain may have dark lines called Kanasuji. Oak (Hokkaido) It has a calm yellowish brown color and beautiful grain unique to oak. It has moderate hardness, rich expression, and is easy to process as furniture material and can be finished into stately furniture, so in the past, a lot of Hokkaido oak wood has been cut and exported overseas. The straight grain has a striped pattern called "Torafu". [About the finish] - Oil finish Apply oil based on natural linseed oil from LEMKE, Germany, and let it dry for 4 to 5 days. Repeat this twice, and finally polish it with a beeswax-based wax to finish. There is no paint film on the surface, but the oil that has soaked into the grain protects the wood and changes to a deeper color over time. Soap finish: The soap finish, which can only be selected for maple wood, is finished using a soapy water solution made from palm oil. It has a beautiful white matte finish while leaving the wood grain intact, and has a more natural finish than oil. When you first start using it, the fuzz may be noticeable when you wipe it with water, but it will blend in as you use it. Source: https://flymee.jp/
