Secrets of Finland Easter Witch Vase
The ceramic vase "Easter Witch Vase" was inspired by the Finnish spring seasonal event, Easter. When spring arrives in Finland in April, Finnish children dress up like witches and hold branches with colorful feathers to celebrate the end of winter. The little witches visit the houses of the town, sprinkling blessings on each house and hoping for treats in return. Praying for the townspeople's good fortune in the coming year, the children chant "May the new year be a good one, and I will give you this branch in return for a treat (Virvon, varvon, tuoreeks terveeks, tulevaks vuodeks; vitsa sulle, palkka mulle)". This product pairs with the "Easter Dog Vase", a dog-shaped vase that accompanies the witch. "Secrets of Finland" is one of the "FIN/JPN Friendship Collection" celebrating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. The six ceramic pieces, designed to celebrate Finnish seasonal events, are fun and functional objects, and are individually handcrafted in a ceramic factory in Portugal that is partnered with Artek.
