Persimmon tannin, which is made by fermenting and aging the juice of astringent persimmons, contains 10 times the tannin (astringency) of wine and has many excellent effects such as preservative, waterproofing, insect repellent, and antibacterial properties. Painting wooden furniture with this product has the effect of suppressing the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and recent research has shown that it is also effective against influenza, norovirus, avian influenza, etc. Red oak has a high oil permeability and is easily soaked with persimmon tannin oil, so the effects of persimmon tannin last for a long time.
