It combines techniques such as cutting hardwood into extremely thin pieces, expressing a glamorous curve in a neat shape, and applying cutting techniques that make the curves look beautiful. "tobi" is a brand launched by seven furniture manufacturers in Tokyo together with furniture designer Eiri Iwakura. Tokyo Shiba Furniture has contributed to the development of Japanese and Western furniture in Japan and continues to carry that technology to the present day. It has a history of developing and expanding in response to the demands of each era, from the early Meiji period to the Taisho and Showa periods. Not only furniture manufacturers but also related businesses such as upholsterers, painters, hardware, and glassworkers gathered in the Shiba area, and Tokyo Shiba Furniture has evolved from mass-produced industrial products to made-to-order, one-of-a-kind products that combine various materials and require skilled craftsmen in each field.
