SUNTORY × KARIMOKU TARURU Dining Table
A collaboration series between Suntory and Karimoku Furniture, one of Japan's leading furniture manufacturers. Barrel wood that has been used to nurture whiskey for decades is used to create furniture. The dining table has a barrel-like silhouette with a rounded bulge in the middle, and the legs are slightly open to the outside, incorporating the subtle curves of the barrel. The legs are designed to be compact yet easy to take chairs in and out, so that four people can sit comfortably at the table. By fermenting whiskey for a long time, the barrel wood develops a unique luster and reddish color. The barrels are assembled without being dyed, leaving the color differences intact, resulting in a natural color that makes use of the color of the barrel itself. There may be whiskey stains or nail marks from the nails that held the steel bands on the underside of the tabletop.
