ISHINOMAKI BENCH
This bench can be used not only indoors, but also outdoors, in the garden or on the balcony. It was originally made by Ishinomaki Kobo and students from Ishinomaki Technical High School as a DIY project for an outdoor movie screening at an Ishinomaki reconstruction event. It was later named "Ishinomaki Bench" because it was used and valued in public places around town. The Yakushima local cedar used in this product (local cedar planted at the foot of Yakushima 30 to 60 years ago) grows at about one-third the rate of cedars in northern Honshu, has fine grain, and grows in a humid environment, so it is oily and resistant to decay. It is also known as Japanese red cedar. It has many knots, is heavier than red cedar, and is highly weather resistant.
