This lampshade is for the wall light "Potence" designed by Jean Prouvé, a French designer who had a major influence on 20th century architecture and industrial design, for his own home in Nancy, France. The Potence is a simple wall light with a light bulb attached to a steel tube supported by steel wires. In 1947, a lampshade was developed to fit the various versions of the Potence. Historical photos of Prouvé's home show that he experimented with various types of lampshades, including those of other designers. This "Abatjour Conique" was the first lampshade designed by Prouvé, and has a double structure of plastic and cotton.
