Highback Chair
This lounge chair was designed by Sugasawa Mitsumasa, an engineer and designer at Tendo Mokko who was trained at the Danish National Technical Institute and has been at the forefront of development for many years. The side frame is molded as a single piece, with no seams except for the armrests, achieving both high design quality and robustness. The legs are constructed using a technique called "link molding," in which solid wood pieces (links) are combined with molded plywood. This is a design unique to Sugasawa, who is well versed in molded plywood technology. The curve of the armrests uses "unequal thickness molding," an advanced technique that changes the thickness locally, with consideration given to both aesthetic beauty and comfort. The frame is curved to fit the body, and the divided cushions feel comfortable against the body, providing a moment of relaxation.
