DESIGNERS LINE - KENGO KUMA - WASHI
The world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma has created a carpet inspired by "Yuton," a carpet made of pasted washi paper that has been passed down since the Edo period, and this carpet is made using the intricate hand-stitching technique of Yamagata Dantsu. With the motif of "kozo," the raw material for washi paper, the carpet combines "paper thread," a twisted thread of washi fiber processed by hand and naturally dried, with off-white wool and silk. The pile, which is made up of four layers of different lengths, provides a rich feel underfoot. Washi paper, a natural material unique to Japan, is a material suited to the lifestyle and culture of the Japanese, who often spend their time barefoot. The soft texture and appearance of this natural material gives a natural comfort to living spaces and blends gently into them. Source: https://flymee.jp/
