This dining chair was designed by Mizunoe Tadaomi, who supported the early days of Japanese furniture design. It was designed in 1954 as a reading chair for the Kanagawa Prefectural Library, and was later released as a standard product. It is said that over 100 prototypes were made before it was commercialized, and even after its release, Mizunoe continued to make improvements to the chair, as if it were his life's work. It features a simple structure in which the molded plywood back and seat are sandwiched between the left and right frames.
