This chair was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1932 for the Paimio Sanatorium, a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients, along with the 41 Armchair Paimio. Due to its design, it is also known as the "Little Paimio Chair." This beautiful chair features a cantilever frame made of birch wood and a seat and back made of a single piece of soft, flexible plywood, creating flowing, organic curves. To ensure that the balance of the armchair is maintained even if the wood changes over time, the frame, which also serves as the armrests, is manufactured by splitting a single frame in half and installing it at both ends.
