This pendant lamp was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen, one of the most important architects in the history of Danish architecture and a pioneer of Danish functionalism. It was designed for Folkets Hus (People's House) in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, which opened in 1956. The downward glare-free light illuminates the space. The spiral holes punched along the opening of the shade soften the contrast between light and shadow, creating a soft light pattern.
