Ulm Stool Color
The Ulm School of Design, which opened in Ulm, West Germany in 1953, was an innovative educational institution that inherited the ideas of the Bauhaus. In 1954, Max Bill, the first president of the university, and Hans Gujoro, who was Bill's assistant at the time, came up with the idea of a tool for students to sit on. The Ulm Stool was born by consolidating multipurpose elements into the design, such as a stool that can be used for work desks, lectures, and cafe terraces, a side table, a portable function, and a tray for books. It is said to be a symbolic stool that inherited the concept of the Bauhaus as it is, with unnecessary functions and designs eliminated. The seat and side panels are joined using a technique called "kumizugishi", a woodworking technique that is strong and prevents warping and twisting. The legs are made of strong beech wood and joined using a technique called "mutual jointing". The edges are slightly cut to make the sharp lines look even more beautiful. The horizontal bars are joined with a "wedge joint". This part is also made of durable beech wood. The color specification uses solid birch wood, which is resistant to scratches. After being dyed to bring out the grain of the wood, it is finished with a clear urethane coating. The U-shape is as simple as possible. How to place it and how to use it is up to your imagination. It can be used as a stool for work desks, lectures, cafe terraces, etc., as a side table, stacked like a stacking shelf, as a magazine rack, or the horizontal bar can be used as a handle when carrying it. Multipurpose elements are concentrated in the design. Source: https://flymee.jp/
