This is a rattle for babies made by a woodworking shop in Aomori. It was originally made to make effective use of the hiba wood from the dismantled torii gate when the old second torii gate of Hirosaki Hachiman Shrine was rebuilt. It has a dog motif, which is the zodiac animal worshipped at Hirosaki Hachiman Shrine. Inside is a shrine bell that emits a gentle sound. "Warahando" means "children" in Tsugaru dialect. This series is centered on wooden toys and children's furniture made by a small woodworking shop in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, using mainly materials from Aomori Prefecture.
