Eames Elephant (Plywood)
In the 1940s, Charles and Ray Eames spent several years developing a technique for molding plywood in three dimensions, and used that technique to create a number of furniture and objects. The idea for a plywood toy elephant, consisting of a head and a body, existed, but it was technically difficult to express the smooth curves at the time, and it was never commercialized. Therefore, the prototype was given as a gift to Charles Eames' 14-year-old daughter, and after being exhibited at an exhibition held at MoMA in 1946, it was kept by the Eames family. After a limited production run in 2007, the "Eames Elephant Plywood", made of American cherry plywood, was finally added to the lineup. Source: https://flymee.jp/
