Miniatures Collection La Chaise
For over 20 years, the Vitra Design Museum has been creating miniatures of historic furniture designs from its collection. The lineup covers the history of furniture, from Art Nouveau to Bauhaus designs, and from postmodernism to contemporary works. The Miniature Collection, which is a 1/6 scale version of the original, faithfully reproduces every detail, including structure, materials, and color. With a high level of detail, including reproductions of parts such as screws, natural wood grain, and handcrafted craftsmanship, the miniatures are not only collector's items, but also important reference materials for universities, design schools, and architects. La Chaise was created for the Low Cost Furniture Design competition organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The organically shaped seat shell is supported by five steel rods on a wooden base.
