Miniatures Collection Art. 41 'Paimio'
For over 20 years, the Vitra Design Museum has been producing miniatures of historic furniture designs from its collection. The lineup covers the history of furniture, from Art Nouveau to Bauhaus designs, and from postmodernism to contemporary works. The Miniature Collection, which reduces the original works to 1/6 size, faithfully reproduces every detail, including structure, materials, and color. With a high level of detail, including reproductions of parts such as screws, natural wood grain, and hand-crafted craftsmanship, the miniature collection is used not only as a collector's item, but also as an important resource for universities, design schools, and architects. Alvar Aalto's designs combine Bauhaus functionalism with the Nordic craft tradition and a strong sense of unity with nature. This led to an exchange with Marcel Breuer, and they later influenced each other. Aalto designed the architectural plan and interior of the Sanatorium in Paimio, Finland, and designed the armchair No. 41. This armchair has a simple and functional structure. The back and seat are made of molded plywood with both ends rolled up, which also functions as a spring, providing a comfortable seating experience never before seen in wooden furniture. With fewer parts and fewer assembly steps, it is also very suitable for mass production. Source: https://flymee.jp/
