Miniatures Collection Standard Chair
For over 20 years, the Vitra Design Museum has been creating miniatures of historic furniture designs from its collection. From Art Nouveau to Bauhaus designs, and from postmodernism to contemporary works, the lineup covers the history of furniture. The Miniature Collection, which reduces the original works to 1/6 size, faithfully reproduces every detail, including structure, materials, and color. With a high level of detail, including reproductions of parts such as screws, natural wood grain, and handcrafted craftsmanship, the miniatures are used not only as collector's items but also as important reference materials for universities, design schools, and architects. The Standard, designed in 1934, is one of the quiet masterpieces in the history of furniture design. Inspired by his victory in the furniture competition at the University City of Nancy, Prouvé worked on designs that combined metal and wood in the 1930s. The back and seat, which come into direct contact with the human body, are made of gentle wooden plywood, while the base is made of strong steel.
