Miniatures Collection Heart-Shaped Cone Chair
For over 20 years, the Vitra Design Museum has been creating miniatures of historic furniture designs from its collection. From Art Nouveau to Bauhaus designs, and from postmodernism to contemporary works, the lineup covers the history of furniture. The Miniature Collection, which is a 1/6 scale reproduction of the original works, faithfully reproduces every detail, including structure, materials, and color. With a high level of detail, including reproductions of parts such as screws, natural wood grain, and handcrafted craftsmanship, the miniatures are used not only as collector's items, but also as important reference materials for universities, design schools, and architects. In the 1930s and 1940s, functionalism - simple structure, straight lines, and a lightweight, light look - was the mainstream in Scandinavian design. In addition, wood was preferred as a natural material to meet the strict form. It was in the 1950s that young designers such as Verner Panton began to break away from traditional constraints and create new designs using innovative techniques. The Hartcone Chair embodies the transformation that took place in Scandinavian design in the late 1950s. Classic modernist furniture is joined by sculptural forms inspired by new technologies.
